weighing the shea butter
waited for the shea butter and lye to cool down before mixing
shea butter is 87 degrees fahrenheit
lye is 82 degrees fahrenheit
the oils and lye began to trace immediately
tried stick blending
did not work
switched back to stirring by hand
stirring by hand worked perfectly. stirred until a medium thick trace was achieved
decided to blend a little just to see how it behaved
stayed at a medium thick trace
the soap was covered and insulated overnight. was not refrigerated. the soap did go through gel phase.
24 hours later
glad I did not wait to stamp. already very hard after just 24 hours
not much lather. feels more like lotion. very silky, not sticky or slimy at all. left skin feeling very soft.
thank you!
100 Percent Shea Butter Soap. Cold Process Unscented Soap.
Thank you so much for watching, liking, & subscribing! 🙂
After trying 100% coconut oil soap (video http://bit.ly/2RGFB1U), I wanted to make another single oil soap just for fun. As you’ll see in the video, it traced almost immediately and had to be hand stirred. The lather is virtually non-existent, more of a silky lotion feeling (lather test in video). Lather test at 3 days and another at 4 weeks produced the same results. I decided not to scent this soap, as I wanted to see how just the oil and lye behaved. The cured soap smells faintly of shea butter.

Looks smooth as silk, unrefined shea butter? The lather was better than I expected…….. very interesting
It looks beautiful, simple but very elegant. I like the sound of the silky not fluffy lather too. Did you superfat at all?
Thanks for sharing Holly. I might try this and add a little castor oil to assist with bubbles. Always love watching your videos. So professionally done and your artistic skill is amazing.
Fascinating experiment, glad you were able to stir the batter down so it was pourable. Beautiful soap, nicely done.
Love this video too Holly! A quick q: is it alright if lye has lower temperature than oils? Always thought that lye should have the higher!
Very interesting! I see that you did not use a fragrance oil or essential oil? Why not? Would you ever consider it?
Do tell, where did you get that luxurious shea butter? I haven't been able to find great quality shea butter in years………….
I'll have to give this a try! I have about 15 pounds of shea in my soap stash! I usually only use 15-20% in my luxury bars but this may take over my lard and olive oil soaps for my kids delicate skin!
Mam super excited videos one doubt which oils are best for skin fragrance oil are essential oils
Mam one more question what effect used for fragrance oil
